How can I play along?

Easy! Think up a superpower and write the story of your first day with it. Did you use your powers for good or evil? Were they helpful or worthless? Did it change your life? When you're done, post it to your blog and then email us a link. We'll add you to our rolls as quickly as we can!

Should I send my story to you?

We're hoping most contributors will post their stories on their own blogs and link back to us here. But if you don't have a blog or you're uncomfortable mixing your story in with your regular blog contents, you're welcome to email us your story. We'll host it here at My Super First Day -- but it may take us a little while to format it and get it posted, so please be patient!

Who has the copyright to the material I've submitted?

You retain all rights to your work, and you can ask us to remove it from the site at any time, at your discretion. It's possible that other writers will be inspired by your ideas and use some of your ideas when they extend their stories, but we consider this Fair Use. If this makes you uncomfortable, then maybe massively collaborative storytelling isn't right for you. 

What information do you need from me?

No matter whether you're hosting your story or we are, we need a few pieces of information from you -- the title of your story, the name you'd like us to use to give you credit, and either the link to your story plus the first few lines a an excerpt, or the body of the story itself. We'd also love to list you in our credits, so be sure to tell us what name and URL you'd like us to point toward.

You've already launched! Am I too late?

Not at all! We'll be taking new Super First Days and continuations of the ones you've already begun for some time to come. Stick around!

Should I put anything in my post to show I'm a part of My Super First Day?

We'd love it if you could put our tag at the end of your post linking to My Super First Day. Here's the HTML, you should be able to just cut and paste it:

Can I use naughty words in mine?

We're aiming for a general audience, here. Some swearing is OK; but if your story includes graphic sex or violence, or is otherwise broadly offensive for reasons we haven't foreseen, then I'm afraid we reserve the right to not link to you.
 

Can I submit video or other multimedia in place of a blog post?

Absolutely! We don't have enough capacity here for hosting files, so we'd appreciate it if you'd use a service like YouTube or Flickr and send us a link.
 

Hey! I submitted my story a while ago and it's not up yet! What gives?

All entries are incorporated into the site by the hands of specially trained monkeys. Sadly, this process take a little time -- and since we're new at this, we don't yet know how much time. Please be patient with us.
 

There's a problem with my story! What do I do?

Sorry about that! Just go ahead and email us about the problem and we'll get it fixed up as soon as we can.
